BQ27426: Res V drop Value doesn't match default

Part Number: BQ27426
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQSTUDIO

When read with the EV2400 tool, the Res V drop register is reading back 32767 mV rather than the expected default value of 50 mV.

Otherwise, the gauge seems to be operating.  Please comment on if this is OK?

Thanks, Best, S. Dunbar, AFA Colorado

  • Hi Antennahead,

Res V Drop is used to qualify updates for the resistance values so this would impact gauging performance as the cell resistance increases with age. I would recommend setting this parameter back to the default of 50 mV.

  • Thanks; I think the bigger question is how did it take on this value to begin with?

They did not change it to this value.  They just happened to notice this.

Any idea how this would have occurred?

  • Hi Antannahead,

It sounds like a programming error where some value was written to the wrong register. Do you have their golden image? I can check it on my evm to make sure their other memory parameters make sense.

  • Some feedback:

I read the Res Vdrop = 32767mV using the EVM default settings, not our golden image. I just connected a battery to power the EVM and used BQStudio to read out the memory contents. Please could you try this method too.

There were some other registers that were not at default too but it was such a high value in Res V drop that concerned me.

Is this expected behavior of the EVM?

    Thanks, Best, Steve
