LM43603: PD formula calculation yieds high losses

Part Number: LM43603

Hi ,

A customer of mine is trying to check the fasibility of using the LM43603 for the following application :

Vin = 24V

Vo = 5V

Io = 3A

By using the PD calculation formula in  page 40 of the D/S of the LM43603 the final PD he receives is about  3.17W on the device a fact that will only allow it to work below 2 Deg C if he wants to keep the TJ below 125 Deg C with 0 LFM.

When comparing the rersults to the WebEnch the losses seems to be much lower (like 2.1W).

What can be the main difference in these calculations ?

Best regards ,
