Secondary Rectifier Diode of LM5160A

Hi,

I have checked the VR of the secondary side diode of the flyback at the LM 5160A.
The following formula exists on page 22 of the data sheet.
Vin * N 2 / N 1 + Vout (ISO)
However, I think it is necessary to consider VOUT (PRI) as follows.
{Vin - Vout (PRI)} * N 2 / N 1 + Vout (ISO)
Is my way of thinking right?

Best Regards,

  • Hi Kaji,
Your formula is right. however in tranisent condition such as Primary output short, you could consider that Vout(Pri) is zero.
That would be the worst case to consider the diode voltage, and your formula would match the one on page 22.
