TPS4H160-Q1: disable open-load detection

Part Number: TPS4H160-Q1

Hi,

As far as I understand, TPS4H160-Q (version B with current sense) will report fault by pulling down FAULT pin when INPUT pin is low and output is not connected.

For my particular case 'disconnected output' is something 'bad but not fatal fault'. That means that controller should know about it but has a way to workaround it (like using reserve channel or just indicate failure with led). At the same time I still want to use global FAULT pin to

What is the best way to ignore such open-load channel from global FAULT pin? According to datasheet I can just turn this 'open-load' output ON and this will keep FAULT pin high (until something happens on  other channels). Can I assume that this behavior is guaranteed?

Thanks!

  • Hi Nezhevenko,
If the channel wasn't turn off, the fault will be not report out. Or you can put some larger resistor on the output to discharge the out pin during turn off, then there is open load fault report out.
    Thanks!
