BQ2084-V143: CEDV Data Collection Clarification

Part Number: BQ2084-V143
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluub45a/sluub45a.pdf provides guidance on collection data to calculate the CEDV coefficients for the BQ2084. Please clarify the following:

1. We have a string of 2 cells (8.4V), does CellTermV refer to the string voltage or the cell voltage? (Some example data shows the string voltage terminating at 3000mV for this case)

2. How low (V/cell) should the string be discharged for data collection?

3. What time interval range should be used for data collection ( 1 data point per 4 seconds?)

  • Hi Steve and sorry for the late response.
    1. It refer to Cell terminate voltage.
    2. Typical value is 3000mV, since you don't want to discharge your battery below system turn-off voltage.
    3. bqStudio will scan and log all of the registers the user have selected even though it will take longer than 1 sec to scan and log selected resistors in case the user had selected 1 sec time- interval, i.e. the priority is to scan and log all the selected resistors then to the selected time-interval for data logging.
    Best,
    Haidar
