I have looked over both datasheets and I'm probably missing something obvious but could you help me understand the main difference(s) between these two devices?

There was an issue with start up under certain conditions. The "A" version fixes this thru an internal trim.

According to my comparison of datasheets: Tss timing multiplier has changed from 1.1 to 0.86
figs 29-32 on datasheet updated and replaced by figs 28-31 for 'A' device (the fig. no.'s changed by 1 because the functional diagram was not given a figure number in the new datasheet).
