BQ27421-G1: BQ27421-G1A: the generation of golden image

Part Number: BQ27421-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400

About the BQ27421-G1A, as we know, the procedures for the generation of golden image (*.gm.fs) are listed as follows:

1) The procedures for the generation of golden image (*.gm.fs) based on the calibration result (*.gg file)

1-1) Connect the device with EV2400. And then, run the bqStudio.

1-2) In the bqStudio

1-2-1) Click the "Data Memory", and click "Import" button to import the *.gg.csv file.

1-2-2) In the "Preferences", in the "Golden Image", clear the "Class Names to be Preserved in GMFS Files" field to be empty.

1-2-3) Click "Write All" ,and then, wait couple seconds.

1-2-4) Click "Read All" ,and then, wait couple seconds.

1-2-5) Click "Golden Image" button and press "Create Image Files" button.

1-2-6) Then, the golden image (*.gm.fs) is generated in the local drive.

Are the procedures above correct?

Thank you.

  • Hi Hank,

The procedure has no problem, thanks.

Before you import the golden file, you also need to change some information in data memory, like design capacity, terminate voltage .etc.

Also need to finish the self-leanring cycle. Then produce the golden file.

    Best regards,

    Sammi

  • 1) About the "Before you import the golden file", does the "golden file" mean the *.gg.csv for bqStudio and the *.gg for GaugeStudio?

    2) About the *.gg file for GaugeStudio we have in hand, it contains the "Design Capacity", "Terminate Voltage", "Design Energy",
    "Taper Rate" ,and other parameters.
2-1) Should we still need to change some information in data memory before the "import"?

    3) About the conversion from *.gg/*.gg.csv file to Goldem Image (*.dffs, *.gm.fs file)
3-1) About the procedures for the conversion, we proceed as follows:
3-1-1) Import the *.gg file for GaugeStduio or *.gg.csv file for bqStudio
3-1-2) do the "Write All", and wait couple seconds.
3-1-3) do the "Read All", and wait couple seconds.
3-1-4) Create the Golden Image (*.dffs or *.gm.fs file)

3-2) About the "finish the self-larning cycle" mentioned by you, is it included in the procedures 3-1-1) ~ 3-1-4)?
3-2-1) If not, could you describe it in more details?

    4) We already downloaded and installed the bqStudio from the TI WEB site. But we cannot find the GaugeStudio in the TI WEB site.
4-1) Could you tell us the URL link to download the GaugeStudio?

    Thank you.
  • 1) We already imported a *.gg.csv file into the bqStudio and generated the golden image (*.gm.fs file).
1-1) But the parameters in golden image generated by bqStudio in our site are different from the parameters in the *.gg.csv file.
1-1-1) We already posted this problem in another case.

    2) Could you tell us the URL link to download the GaugeStudio?

    Thank you.
  • Hi Hank,

1.The gg.csv includes the Register information on your gauge, but the golden image file includes most of the information of gauge, like Data memory information.
    2. Sorry, I only have the website link: www.ti.com/.../bqStudio

    Best regards,
    Sammi
  • Thank you for your kind support.

    1) About the "Register information on your gauge" in the *.gg.csv file, do you mean the following 2 parameters or the others?
    "Configuration","Registers","OpConfig","0df9","Flag","B","2","0x40000000","25f8","0x0","0xFFFF","hhhh","x","x","RSVD0|RSVD0|BIE|BI_PU_EN|GPIOPOL|RSVD1|RSVD0|RSVD1|RSVD1|RSVD1|SLEEP|RMFCC|RSVD1|BATLOWEN|RSVD0|TEMPS","","Flag",""
    "Configuration","Registers","OpConfigB","0f","Flag","B","1","0x40000002","0f","0x0","0xFF","hh","x","x","RSVD0|RSVD0|RSVD0|RSVD0|RSVD1|SMOOTHEN|RSVD1|RSVD1","","Flag",""

1-1) Should the "Register information on your gauge" in the *.gg.csv file be removed or kept?

    Have a nice day.
