TPS659037: Is there difference between TPS6590376ZWSR and TPS6590376ZWST

Part Number: TPS659037

My customer use TPS6590376ZWST, when power up. there is a pulse on REGEN1 as below picture.

It is same on AM572xEVM_REV_ A2B board, which use TPS6590374ZWSR

there is not such as pulse on AM572xEVM_REV_ A3 board, which use TPS6590376ZWSR.

On AM572xEVM_REV_ A3 schematic add R434 on the VDD_3V3_ON (REGEN1) pin, but it DNI, so the two version schematic seems identical.

What is the cause result in the different behavior about the VDD_3V3_ON (REGEN1) pin?

  • Hi Tony,

They are the same material. You can confirm this by looking at the top-side symbol of the two units. They should both read "OTP 8A 1.3", this describes the OTP settings within the device. The only difference between the "R" and "T" devices is the reel size - 1000pc and 250pc respectively.

This issue is likely caused by a pull-up resistor on the REGEN1 line. REGEN1 should either have no pull-up and pull-down, or only a pull-down. A pull-up can cause a voltage spike for a short time if the output is initialized as high-impedance. If you're using the EVM, please remove the pull-up on this rail and see if it fixes your issue.
