BQ77904: Over Charge Current Protection

You are correct, the bq77904 does not support OCC (over current in charge). At this time the monitors (bq769x0) are the only devices that have OCC.

Can I confirm with you, bq769x0 need to be desigined with bq78350 fuel gauge which using CEDV topology right?

Any protection IC with OCC function which can be designed with impedance track fuel gauge IC?

Hi Hong,

The bq769x0 does not need the bq78350 but it works well with it. The bq769x0 can work with any MCU of your choice that has I2C communication.

There is no protection only device with OCC released at the moment that we can recommend. Those devices that are released that do have OCC are now NRND (not recommend for new designs) include the bq77908A/910A and those do include the OCC protection. However, like i mentioned, we can't recommend those devices.

I didn't find OCC register or threshold in bq76930 datasheet. What is name of Over Charge Current register on bq76930 or exist?
