TPS61291: TPS61291 Reverse Power

Part Number: TPS61291

I have an application using the TPS61291 to boost 2 Alkaline cells to 3V3. If 3V3 was applied to the output, due to a USB connection, and the TPS61291 was set to bypass mode will any reverse current flow into the battery? The datasheet mentions that the bypass switched is "delayed" until Vout is less than Vin. Delayed permantley? What reverse current will flow?

Many thanks

  • hello
do you mean apply 5V to VOUT firstly, then set the TPS61291 to bypass mode? if yes, the reverse current should be nA level. if you set the device to bypass mode firstly, there could be reverse current.
as the power sequence is critical in your application, i would suggest you apply an EVM for evaluation.
