TPS54620: Synq Resistor

Part Number: TPS54620
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54320,

Hi,

I have 4 TI parts on my design, (3) TPS54620 and (1) TPS54320. I am running these at 200KHz and all RT pins are tied together with one 243K to ground to set frequency

until the FPGA can provide it. Is this the correct way to handle this? A separate RT resistor for each would mean 4 in // and not the correct value per datasheet.

Patrick

  • I would recommend a separate RT resistor for each device and a separate buffered clock signal for each.  For a given Fsw, the required RT resistor is different for TPS54320  relative to TPS54620.  RT pin is very sensitive.  You need to terminate each device locally with the RT resistor very close to the RT pin and the GND path as short as possible.  So you will needa separate buffered clock signal for each.

  • 200KHz is 243K for the 620, I assumes same for the 320 as same family. Guess not. Buffer understood, OK
