TLV62130A: 5Vout recommendations and HS RdsON @ 5Vin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62130A

Dear team,

Could you please help me with the following two questions ?

Thanks a lot !!

  1. TLV62130A datasheet recommend a 5Vout max, I suppose this includes the resistors tolerance, which means a 5.1Vout (for example), would absolutely not harm the device and is included in the recommended range ?
  2. TLV62130A will be used to generate a 5Vout @ 3A (max), from a 8 to 12V typical. In some situation, the product will be powered from a 5V supply, and TLV62130A will be in 100% DC mode. Could we provide a RdsON indication for the HS FET when Vin is 5V  (4.8Vmin) ? (datasheet stops at 6Vin)

Wishing you a nice day,

Best regards,

PA

  • You should not program the output voltage higher than 5V. If, through tolerances or otherwise, Vout ends up higher than 5V, it is ok--as long as the abs max ratings (for the VOS pin, for example) are kept.

The TPS62130A offers up to 6Vout. As well, its D/S has a spec for Rdson at 3Vin. You can use this same number for TLV62130A and interpolate to get an approximate value at 5Vin.
  • Hello Chris,
    Thank you!
Vout will be programmed to 5.0V, but the tolerance might get the final output voltage higher than that.

    Best regards,
