Isolated Flyback Controller with Coupled Inductor

Dear all,

does have TI an reference design for isolated DC/DC Flyback with coupled inductor like Colicraft LPR4012-223D ?

The wattage of the DC/DC less than 5W required ( approx 3.5W)

Best Regards.

  • Can you specify more details for your spec and requirements?

I.e. the input voltage min/max, output voltage and output max load power, target switching frequency, isolations requirements, etc?

With more information, we will be able to make a better recommendation.

    Thanks,
    Bernard
  • Dear Bernard,

I was interested on how to design a Flyback with coupled inductor and not with an Transformer . IS there an App note how do do this?

Input voltage up to 57V if PoE is used, if not max input voltage 24V

    Consumption max 3.5W @ 5V output.

As I saw the switching of an flyback controller is around 250kHz

    Best Regards.
  • Since a Flyback transformer is really a coupled inductor rather a conventional transformer, then yes, a Flyback power stage can be built around a coupled-inductor - if the 1:1 turns ratio is appropriate for the power stage, and if the pri-sec isolation of the coupled inductor is adequate for the application.

It all depends on the input voltage range, output voltage, power level, etc.

You can search all available TI-Designs and reference designs here:
    www.ti.com/.../refdesignsearchresults.tsp

You can click on the "Search power design by parameters" tab, then enter your specs/requirements to refine the results to find the closest match.

I hope this helps answer your question, if so, please click the "verify answer" button.

    Thanks,
