BQ51013A: Confused about the efficiency graphs for the BQ51013A

Figure 4 in the BQ51013A datasheet shows the minimum efficiency at about 63%.  However, Figure 6 shows the efficiency below 20% for the comparable output power (200mW).  So which one is correct?  I'm crunching the numbers on a devices that uses the BQ51013A, and the results say Figure 6 is correct: expect less than 50% efficiency when the output power is less than 1W.

  • Figure 4 is the efficiency of rectifier section of the bq51013A only. Figure 6 is efficiency of the system, input to TX to output of RX.

    If your output power is less than 1W take a look at the bq51003, it has features that will improve efficiency for lower power systems. The bq51013A is designed for 1A output current and the 003 is targeted at 500mA output.
