Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5119
Hello Gents
I am trying a DC/DC converter, which must accept 23 to 29V input and deliver 22V output
Current will be 20A
I did a controller with LM5116; I had chosen approx 50kHz frequency due to high gate capacitance power MOSFETs i have to use.
I applied slope compensation, values between 330k down to 68k. The circuit i did using the schematic supplied in the 5116 datasheet
Loop compensation is 3k3 +22nF; i tried various other values, this works better; others are very unstable.
Tests are using 24-25V input, 10 ohms 16W temporary resistor output; variable output voltage implemented using a potentiometer.
When i am rising output voltage beyond 60% duty cycle, the output tends to become unstable (one cycle becomes thicker than other) and after that the frequency suddenly decrease to half and duty cycle becomes 50%.
What can be the cause?
And another nasty thing: i observed LM5116 is heating up really fast (3-4 seconds to 100 degr); Vccx is not connected, but on a capacitor to ground; Vcc intrinsecally supplied, had 7V; output resistors are 2.2 ohms to gate of MOSFETs; everything looks normal on oscilloscope.
