TPS65910: Can TPS65910 in our system pass VBACKUP < VBNPR information to AM3352?

Part Number: TPS65910
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hello, we use PMIC TPS65910 as the power supply forAM3352.

We also use the Coin cell for TPS65910(RTC) backup as the following diagram.

Could you please tell me how to inform VBACKUP < VBNPR status to AM3352?

Best regards,

ay0689

  • Hi ay0689,

Just wanted to let you know that I have talked to the device expert on this. I will respond on Monday with our recommendations.

  • Hi ay0689,

What exactly are you trying achieve with alerting the processor? Would you like to notify the processor right after VBACKUP < VBNPR? Are you using the RTC of the TPS65910 or are you using the AM335x's RTC?

  • Hello Kundmueller-san,

What exactly are you trying achieve with alerting the processor?

=> To know Replacement timing of the Coin Battery.

Would you like to notify the processor right after VBACKUP < VBNPR?

=> Yes. The processor will inform "REPLACE the Coin Battery to new one" on the LCD screen to the User.

Are you using the RTC of the TPS65910 or are you using the AM335x's RTC?

    => Both.

TPS65910 RTC Values are tranferred to AM335x's RTC after AM335x is powered up.

PMIC RTC is always clocking while AM335x is in Power OFF state.

    Best regards,
