BQ76PL455A-Q1: BQ76PL455A-Q1 vs BQ76940

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940

Hello,

Could someone please explain to me the differences between the BQ76PL455A-Q1 and the BQ76940? The BQ76PL455A-Q1 uses much more power, but looking at the two components it seems they both do the same functions.

I am looking at both of these components for a 14s lithium pack. I want to use a Q1 component due as I am looking for a near zero defect device for my production vehicle.

Thanks so much for the help!

Dillon

  • Hi Dillon,

The bq76PL455A-Q1 and bq76940 are completely different devices internally, and designed for different markets. The bq76940 is designed for non-automotive applications, whereas the bq76PL455A-Q1 is designed with additional features specifically for the automotive market.

The bq76PL455A-Q1 includes additional reliability, features and diagnostics to achieve functional safety compliance for an end product. It is also designed to natively stack up to 16 ICs high for very large packs.

    Regards,

    Stephen
