questions "tps73801"

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS73801, TPS7A30

Hi, I have three questions about TPS73801.

1. Input 16.5 to 15V output operation will be considered.

2. Then input:-16.5V output:-15V is it possible?

3.2 times the figure 24 shown in datasheet possible negative voltage (-16.5V) is connected to the (maximum input voltage of-20V ~ 20V) that is possible.
Could you please teach me?

Thanks in advance, philip

  • The TPS73801 will work in an application with a 16.5 V input regulated to a 15 V output.  To do this you must choose the correct value for the resistors.  This can be done using the information in the Adjustable Operations section including Figure 26. An example of values that will work for 16.5 V to 15 V are R1 = 4k and R2 = 45.1k.

When a negative voltage is applied to the input there will be no output voltage.  The device will act as a series diode preventing reverse current flow.  This will protect the device from a negative input voltage from 0 to – 20 V.

  • thank you for your advice....

    negative voltage is difficult......hahaha

  • If you are looking for a negative LDO, we just released the TPS7A30 which is tolerant to -36V. Here is the link http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tps7a3001.html
