Checking an old 5006 power supply, I started by checking the load range and looking at the startup waveform through L3. What i saw surprised me. During the initial startup waveform, i see a massive overshoot that is well beyond the 1500mA max Ilim that is claimed on the datasheet. The peak was over 4A before returning to the Ilim threshold. The switch stays on far too long and the current pulse is far too high.
Anyone seen this before or know what might cause it?
