TL2844: TL2844(PWM controller) schematic review

Part Number: TL2844

Hi,

I attached our schematic for HMI-SMPS application as below.

I used TI's PWM controller TL2844 and FAIRCHILD's FET FCDB1300N80Z.

At the sample board, PWM cont. and FET damaged repetitively when test.

So I'd like to get TI's schematic review if there's any problem at our circuit.

Thanks,

  • Quick review of the schematic doesn't show any issues.

You do not mention under what conditions the failures are occurring; load conditions, line conditions, right at start up, during transient, at what temperature, etc is all vital information.  Also wave forms showing VCC, gate drive, current sense, drain voltage, along with transformer details (turns ratios, primary inductance)  is also needed to help determine the cause.  Are you sure the transformer isn't saturating?  The waveform of the voltage on the sense resistor would be helpful.

Does the failure occur on multiple boards? I could not find a data sheet for FCDB1300N80Z but I did find one for FCD1300N80Z, is that the one you are using?
