TPS61029: About Power Save mode of TPS61029.

Part Number: TPS61029

Hi,

My customer has questions about TPS 61029.

TPS 61029,
VIN = 3.5 to 5 V
VOUT = 4.813 to 4.193 V
IOUT = 500 mA
I use it under the above conditions.

TPS 61029 transitions to Power Save Mode under the above conditions,
Is this normal behavior?

Are there specific conditions for transition to Power Save Mode?

Also, when a capacitor (100 pF) was added between FB and GND,
It works with PWM, but why?

Best regards,

Watanabe

  • 1. the device need a tantalum output capacitor or ceramic cap with external ESR, otherwise the device may operates abnormally. a feed-forward capacitor help on the problem you described, but it may cause unstable problem. so i would suggest using tantalum output capacitor for this device.
    2. for your application, you need to select a buck-boost converter. because VIN range could be higher and lower than VOUT. a boost converter is not suggested in this kind of application
