LM25037: Control mode for half-bridge

Hi,

I received the following question from my customer.

It is mentioned that "current mode control is used for push-pull and full-bridge topologies while voltage mode control is required for the half-bridge topology" on the datasheet p17.

Why is voltage mode required for the half-bridge?

My customer was considering current mode control for the half-bridge.

If you use the LM25037 to control a half bridge stage then you must use voltage mode control. The reason for this is that peak current mode control is inherently unstable in the half bridge topology. This is a characteristic of the topology and is not related to the controller being used and is explained in the document at http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snva607/snva607.pdf .
