BQ25890: 3 questions on bq25890

Part Number: BQ25890
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , BQ25898, BQ25898D

Hi TI experts,

        My questions are:

Q1. What is the difference between bq25890 and bq25890H?

They have different datasheet, but I have not find the difference between the two chips.

Q2. What is the other difference between bq25890 and bq25898 except the max charge current?

bq25890 has 5A charge current, bq25898 has 4A charge current. Except that, no difference?

Q3. What are the suggested switch that can be used to switch D+ and D- using "DSEL" signal.

Since I want to use the USB for communication and charging when my device is plugged into PC USB.

Q4. Is there any other solutions that has integrated the D+/D- switch into the chip?

        Thank you.

Frank

  • Regarding 1, new or improved features in bq25890H compared to bq25890 are

    • host controllable D+/D- voltage output levels to allow host software to communicate with QC3.0 adapters and provide outputs during OTG mode
    • DSEL remains changes to high if CDP detected
    • 12V high voltage handshaking can be enabled or disabled through I2C

Regarding 2, new or improved features in bq25898 compared to bq25890

    •Improved Efficiency
•Support battery voltage down to 2.5V in OTG mode
•12V high voltage handshaking can be enabled or disabled through I2C
    •Added battery remote sense
•PFM mode can be enabled or disabled through I2C
    •Faster ACOV response time
    •Programmable D+/D- voltage (bq25898D)
    •Added 30mA VOK (5V) signal (bq25898)
Regarding 3, the switch used on the EVM is TS3USB221ARSER.
Regarding 4, I am not aware of any other chargers with the USB switch integrated.  I have several customers who do not use the switch because the charger does not use the D+/D- lines 2 seconds after VBUS powers up, unless the host sends an I2C command to do so.
  • Hi Jeff%20F,

       Thank you very much.
Can you provide me a full bq25898 datasheet?
The one I downloaded from TI web has only 8 pages. It even doesn't have a pin map.
       Thank you.

  • Frank,

If you click the link () under the special note on the product page, you will be redirected to request page.  You should get an email with a new link to download the datasheet in 24 hours or less.  We like to track who is getting the datasheets.

  • Hi Jeff,

        Thank you.

But the link you give me can not be opened. Can you write it again?
