TPS54160: TPS54160

Part Number: TPS54160

Hi to all, in my board there is a TPS54160 to supply +5V logic for microcontroller and other peripherals, the main supply at TP54160 input is 12V to 38V, and the maximum current at the output does not exceed to 300mA.

In this condition i have some problem with radiated emissions in an anechoic chamber, I can slow down the switching fronts of the mosfet inserting in series with the bootstrap capacitance resistance? 100nF with 22 ohms? There is no maximum limit for the series resistance ?, I checked the voltage of the capacitor and does not change compared to the case without resistance (6,2V), in this condition rise time change from 6ns to 11ns.

  • I do not have any hard data. I would be inclined not to go above 20 ohm. Will that work for you?
  • I make a test with 22R, with a probe insert on pin 10 I see the rise time increase from 6ns to 11ns and fall time decrease from 28ns to 27ns, the voltage drop across the capacitor is the same, the efficiency decrease from 83,3% to 80%; observing the FFT with the oscilloscope to 120MHz reports a drop of 10dB, very interesting, now I make a test with 33R only for verify if there is best result, but i think to stop at 22R (commercial value).
