Topology selection for isolated dc-dc converter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP10395

Hi,

I need to design isolated dc-dc converter with below specifications:

  • Input: 24Vdc
  • output: 5Vdc
  • Output power: 250 watt
  • Output power mode: constant current with voltage variation in specified limit.
  • Application: Electro-chemical reactor
  • Isolation: 2kVac

So, which topology should be selected, and any application note for same?

  • Hello Arjun,
Begin this search by going to TI's reference design area for power.
    www.ti.com/.../refdesignsearchresults.tsp
Click- Search power reference design parameters under "Find your solution now", left side of page.
Input 24V in Vin min, 5V in Vout min, and click isolation.
Then sort by Output current highest to lowest.

You will see that Forward-Active Clamp-Synchronous Rectification appears on all the high power designs.
This would be my topology of choice for your needs.

Our closest online reference design is PMP10395:
