TPS3808: CT Specs

Part Number: TPS3808

Hello,

I'm wondering how to understand the CT specs of TPS3808-Q1.

  • The /RESET delay time for CT = 100 pF ranges from 0.75 to 1.75 ms while it does from 0.7 to 1.7 ms with CT = 180 nF according to page 6 of the data sheet. Does the delay time really remain close even if the CT value changes by nearly three digits?
  • What's the condition of temperature range for the /RESET delay time specs?

Best regards,
Shinichi Yokota

  • Shinichi Yokota,

The CT = 100 pF sets delay to ~1ms and the CT = 180 nF sets delay to ~1s. If you notice, the datasheet has this correct when you look at the UNIT column in Table 7.6 of the TPS3808 datasheet: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps3808.pdf but incorrect in the TPS3808-Q1 datasheet: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps3808-q1.pdf so thank you for pointing out this error! I will work to get this mistake fixed asap.

    1. The Delay follows the equation from section 8.3.2: Delay (s) = CT (nF) / 175 + 0.5x10^-3 (s)

    2. The TYP values in the EC table are at Tj = 25C but the MIN/MAX range found in the EC table are for the entire operating temp range.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
