UCC27211A: Shoot Through Protection

Part Number: UCC27211A

Hi, team.

Does UC27211A have Shoot Through Protection ?

A dataseat includes the following sentence, but what happens in case of Hi=High, Lo=High?

The UCC27211A features very low quiescent currents (less than 0.17 mA, refer to the Electrical
Characteristics table and contain internal logic to eliminate any shoot-through in the output driver stage.

Best Regards,

Kobayashi

  • Kobayashi-san,

Thank you for inquiring about the UCC27211A device. The sentence form the datasheet that is quoted in your post refers to preventing shoot-through in the driver FETs internal to the UCC27211A. That is, preventing shoot-through from HB to HS through the HO output stage or from VDD to VSS through the LO output stage.

The high side and low side each have independent inputs that allow maximum flexibility of input control signals in the application. Therefore, by design, this driver does not prevent LO and HO from both going HIGH simultaneously. Table 2 in the device datasheet shows that if HI and LI and both at logic level HIGH, then both HO and LO will both also be HIGH. When driving a half-bridge, careful consideration must be applied to ensure proper dead times are allowed between HI and LI logic HIGH states.
