LDO TPS7150QP Pinout and Wiring

I recently purchased a Texas Instruments LDO 5v regulator and I'm having trouble getting it to work.

I can't seem to figure out the data sheet information on pinout and wiring. http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tps7150.html#technicaldocuments

The regulator has 8 pins and I can see the pinout on the first page of the data sheet, but on page 3 the Typical Application Configuration doesn't seem to match up. Or at least I can't understand it. The pinout appears to be different and the ground connections seem to come out of the bottom of the regulator. I think I may be reading it wrong but I'm not sure what to go off of. What diagram should I be reading?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This device comes in multiple packages with different numbers of pins. The P package is an 8 pin DIP. The figure on page 1 is the correct pin out for this device.

The diagram at the top of page 3 refers to the 20 pin TSSOP package.

The diagram at the bottom of page 3 refers to the actual silicon die (chip) that we used to sell. The pinout on that diagram refers to the locations on the die that the bond wires would attach to.

Thank you Chris for the quick response!

So is the Typical Application Configuration correct? Do I need to have it wired as it shows? With the capacitors and resistors as shown in the diagram?

Currently I have it wired like so and am getting a .25v output.

Yes, it should be wired like figure 2 (except the pin numbers are different for your device), since you have the fixed version. So, no resistors between pin 7 and pin 5/6. Both capacitors are required.
