BQ35100EVM-795: Interface connection from PC USB - EV2300 - bq35100evm-795 board

Part Number: BQ35100EVM-795
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ35100, EV2400

When I open bqstudio and select "0100_1_02-bq35100.bqz" as the target gives me a prompt reading "The detected device is not compatible with this application! Some actions could cause the device to lose communication permantly and enter and unrecoverable state. Proceed at your own risk. Select OK to continue, Cancel or close the application. When the GUI opens after selecting OK the interface connection just shows the bidirectional arrows with no I2C reference. I am using a 64 bit Windows 8 PC and was thinking it may be a driver issue. I have also tried running bqstudio on a Windows XP 32 bit PC but have the same issue. I have downloaded drivers from the TI site that I believed would be suitable but with no success.

Is there a configuration process I am missing or a driver that is suitable for Windows 8, 64 bit systems?

    • Hi
    • I have successfully to connect the bq35100 evm with ev2400 and win7 64bit system.
    • please check you hardware settings:
    • make sure to connnect a battery of power supply to the BAT+ and BAT- connector of bq35100 evm (for example 3V)
    • try to use ev2400 or check your driver of ev2300 again.

  • I have tried installing the unofficial 64-bit drivers for EV2300 that you attached to your post and I am still having the same issues. I have started trying to debug the hardware. I have measured VOUT on the I2C interace and I'm getting 0V. I am measuring 5V on pins 1 (G) and 2 (S) of Q2 and 0V on pin 3 (D) in the schematic shown in section 3.3 of the EV2300 EVM interface board document SLUU159E, do I need to place a jumper between any of the headers on the board to switch the I2C_VOUT from 0V to 5V?
