LP2989: what is the best value TI 12V, 500mA LDO vs. EXAR SPX3819?

Hi,

I have a customer using EXAR SPX3819S-L-5-0/TR Needs Vin >=12V, 500mA, low(ish) Iq/GND pin current and prefers leaded package like SOIC/VSOP etc.

LP2989IMX-5.0/NOPB looks reasonable - but quite old..

Is there something newer than LP2989, low cost and in leaded package to offer please?

Hi Mike,

Old should not necessarily be interpreted as a negative. Using our parametric search, we can quickly reduce our portfolio with the criteria of 12V in, fixed 5V out, 500mA load in a SOIC package.

I had three results return: REG103, LP2989, and LP2960.
