BQ34110: SOC Flag Config A and B description missing from Technical Reference Manual

Part Number: BQ34110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ40Z50-R1

Hi,

I can't find a description for the registers "SOC Flag Config A" and "SOC Flag Config B" in the TRM. With bqStudio, I can see the names of the bits of the registers, but I don't have a description for them.

Can someone point me to a reference where I could have a detailed description of the different bits of those registers?

Thank you,

Fred

  • Hi,

What version of bqstudio are you using? Could you upload a screenshot to me?

I could only see Control, battery status, operation status, gauge status, manufacuring status, EOS learn status, EOS safety status.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Sammi

  • Hi Sammi,

As far as I know, I have the latest version. At startup, I choose "Gauge->0110_0_01-bq34110.bqz", then I go to "Data Registers", then in "Settings", click on "SOC Flag Config A" or "SOC Flag Config b" under "Configuration", and then I can see the names of the bits in the register (see screen capture below).

My question is really more about the documentation, though. Shouldn't there be a description in the datasheet/TRM?

  • Hello,

I am so sorry, and the trm really don't have descriptions about these two registers after I checked.
If you have questions about these two registers or other information of this product, please tell me and I could check for you. Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Sammi
  • I would really like a description of those two registers, as I'm writing the firmware for our application and I need to know how to setup these registers. For example, the TRM says that some alerts are controlled by settings in SOC Flag Config A and SOC Flag Config B, but there is no description of those two and how to setup them.

If you could take the time to find the documentation about those, I would really appreciate it!

    Thank you,

    Fred
  • Hi Fred,

I apologize for that oversight, we'll work on getting that updated. In the meantime, you might look at the description of those settings in the TRM of bq40z50-R1 (www.ti.com/.../sluubc1c.pdf).

    Thanks,

    Terry
  • Perfect, that's exactly what I needed! Thank you!
