Hello Sir/Madam, 

I am going to design Integrated battery manager (battery charger + Gas gauge + protection)  circuit for (2S - 8.4V) Li-Ion batteries. I have gone through application circuits. I have some doubts on same. Parameters for the design given below

Adaptor voltage range 12 to 20V

System voltage - 8.4V (Battery Voltage)

Charging current - <2A

System current - 7A @ 8.4V. 

2S Li-Ion batteries - 8.4V.

Can I use BQ40Z60 ?  If not, please suggest any Integrated Battery Manager IC for my application.

    The bq40z60 should be able to support these requirements. You could also consider the bq28z610 and an external charger. The bq28z610 is a 2s gauge / protector. Or, you could consider the bq40z50-R1 and an external charger. The bq40z50-R1 is a 1 to 4S gauge / protector. Layout will be more flexible using the chipsets with the external chargers.

    This is reagrding BQ34Z100 Gas gauge , actually this is for 1S, 2- 4S , >4S cells (Li) configuration. For single Li ion Cell , Bat voltage connected directly to BAT pin of IC. If I use 2-4S cells then , I need to use resistor divider. Why I cant use Single Cell Gas gauge like "BQ27220 , BQ27320 ,BQ27426" with voltage divider for 2-4S configuration cells ?
