TPS54618

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54618

I want to create a sync signal for a TPS54618.  I'm going to drive a 400 kHz square wave sync signal but it's going to take a while for the 400 kHz signal to turn on, so until it's up and running I have a 511K resistor from the RT/CLK pin to this held-low sync signal that will later be generating a square wave.  Will the power supply come up and operate at 400 kHz if the 511K resistor is going to a held-low CMOS 3.3V output signal?  And once my sync signal starts oscillating, will there be a blip on the output power rail as the sync signal starts up?

  • If you hold the RT pin low, you will not operate properly. RT needs to have its internal regulator set for 0.5 V. TPS54618 senses the current thru RT to set the operating frequency. You should drive EN with an open drain or Hi-Z buffer.
