TPS23751: TPS23751 Application Question

Part Number: TPS23751

Hi Sir,

I have question about PD side RJ45.

As I know for GIGALAN need have 4 pair support, but for power rail 4 pair is necessary need?

May I know we have to design pair 1236 and 4578 pair on PD RJ45? since we don't know PSE side use 1236 or 4578?

  • Hi Wen,

You're right, for Type 1 and Type 2 PoE, power can be sent by either pair sets so the PD should be configured like above to accommodate whatever the PSE power architecture is. For the future .bt PoE standard, Type 3 and Type 4, power will be delivered through all 4 pairs.
