TPS54302: Current consumption

Part Number: TPS54302

Hello.

I made buck-converter like it shown in datasheet, but enable-pin connect directly to VIN

Vout=5V

When Vin = 8...12(V) current consumption is about 600 uA (with load: MCU and OPA) and Vout=~5V

When Vin above ~13(V) current consumption increases (about 50 mA) and Vout increases to 5.4V, after that I increase Vin to 20V then current consumption and Vout drops to ~1mA and ~5V and stays stable at wide range of input voltage.

Why is this happening and what am I doing wrong?

My real Vin in device is 8...15V

Sorry for my english=(

  • Absolute maximum voltage rating for the EN pin is 7 V.  I do not doubt that when when you increase the EN voltage much above 7 V that you see issues with Vout regulation and input current increasing.  Please be sure that EN remains below the absolute voltage rating (see section 6.1 on page 4 of the datasheet).
