BQ27741-G1: Using BQ27741-G1 in solar application

Part Number: BQ27741-G1

Hi,

We are connecting one of our board with solar panel in such a  configuration it can run from solar as well as battery. Suppose our battery is totally drained we don't want to run load from solar panel till batterry don't have 3-4 % SOC. My question is can i rely one SOC reading for switching on my load as when load is off it will   consume  few mA but otherwise it will consume 700 mA typically and 2Amp of burst current.what should be correct way to avoid  insufficient power availiblity condition.

  • You'll have to test if the 2 amp burst current will drop the battery voltage way below your systems shut down (terminate) voltage. The gauge uses average current to estimate SOC so if your average current is very low (much smaller than 2A) then relying on SOC from the gauge may be problematic if there are short 2A burst currents.
