Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5728
Hello,
I have a board with LM5069-1 hotswap controller including dv/dt startup.
I set the Current limit to about 12A. So I expect the Circuit Breaker feature to engage around 24A.
Everything behave as expected between 0A and 24A.
The problem:
With a DC load, I set a current load to 30A.
- Between 0 and 8ms, the output voltage cuts out, then restarts (Ctimer below 4V)
- Between 8.5 and 8.7, the output voltage cuts out, then restarts (Ctimer retry, still below 4V)
- Above 8.8ms, the output voltage cuts out (Ctimer retry up to 4V)
The question:
When circuit breaker feature trigs, why does the gate not kept grounded?
Is it normal that the circuit is only latched through "Current limit" feature (Ctimer > 4V)?
Configuration:
The main components values are:
- Rsense = 5 mOhm (Plus R1/R2 = 2/10 ohms)
- Ctimer = 12 nF
- Cdvdt = 100 nF
On the oscilloscope figures (Zip file attached):
- CH1 = V_Vtimer (Volt)
- CH2 = V_Gate (Volt)
- CH3 = V_out (Volt)
- CH4 = V_Rsense (Volt)
- Cursors delta indicate DC load ON duration
Thank you for your help
