TPS63050: ILIM0/ILIM1 versus SS and efficiency

Part Number: TPS63050

A few questions about some of the control pins on the TPS63050:

  • From the pin function definition on page 3 of the specification, the ILIM0 and ILIM1 pins control the inrush current, but it also mentions the efficiency vs output current  graph.

Do the setting on these pins also affect efficiency?

If so, what is the relation?

  • It appears the SS and ILIM0/1 pins both control the startup current.

Does one take precedence over the other?

Can one just leave the SS pin open and let the ILIM pins control the current?

  • The link on page 3 is broken and should point to Table 2. There is no effect on efficiency.

SS and ILIM work together. ILIM adjusts the maximum current (current limit) while SS adjusts the time that it takes to ramp to this limit during startup.
