LM2587: LM2587 +24v to 48v regulator

To whom it may concern, I am using LM2587SX-ADJ/NOPB as a boost regulator to boost +24v to +48v, the design worked ok on 2 proto phases about 25 assys, yet I have had some outline failures, where the regulator just stop working, outputting +7v and not switching. The implementation of the design was taken from the datasheet application notes, there is no specific failure mode, only failure description is it was working and then it stopped. The application of this +48v regulated is to driver 2 strings of LED (RGB), the controlling to turn on the LEDs are separate, the regulators just provides +48v.

Happy to help. How many boards out of the 25, fail and did the remaining all work? Is there any component difference or assembly variation between the boards? Small differences just as effective solder contacts for resistors etc can have a huge impact on regulation.

At this point we have had 3 board fail, out of the 25; there are no variation, these have not reworks. what format would be acceptable for the layout.

Aston,

I do have one of the parts that failed, is it possible to send it back to TI for analysis?
the failure has been consistent across all 3 instances of the failure, where the voltage output is between 7 and 8 volts, vs what it should be +48V.
