BQ76PL455A: bq76PL455A / Device Functional Mode after power up

Hi,

I know that bq76PL455A has three device functional mode as SHUTDOWN (sleep), IDLE and ACTIVE. Then which mode does it enter after power up? Now power up means that cell module is connected and apply voltage to TOP pin.

Hello Satoshi,

The 455 will be in shutdown mode immediately after connecting the cells, and a wake command must be sent to advance to the idle state. Once in the idle state, commands can be sent to the part.

My colleague actually just informed me that he has seen transients on the wakeup pin cause the part to actually start in the IDLE mode after connecting a module. It does not happen everytime, but it is a possibility. Adding a 0.1uF cap on the pin help, and another way to mitigate the problem is setting the comm_pd_per bits in the CTO register.
