CCS/BQ78Z100: BQ78Z100DRZ:Some questions about use the BQ78Z100DRZ

Part Number: BQ78Z100

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi all:

I have some questions about use the BQ78Z100DRZ.

1、Enable the battery balance function, two batteries in charge or free time the voltage-difference can be configured to start balance?

2、Over voltage protection, over current protection, under-voltage protection configuration parameters are stored in the data such as Flash or RAM?

3、Battery pack factory configured to SLEEP mode, the leakage current is 90 ~ 160 uA, are there any ways to reduce the leakage current?

4、Swicth the NORMAL mode and SLEEP mode  is controlled by host? If it is, in the process of charging remove the battery, the chip is  always working in NORMAL mode, and the battery leakage current   250 ~ 500 uA?

 Look Forward To Your Reply!

Thanks & Best Regards!

  • 1、Enable the battery balance function, two batteries in charge or free time the voltage-difference can be configured to start balance?

OA: Balancing of the cell is only enabled and active if you have completed a successful learning cycle because the gauge carries out cell balancing based on capacity and not just based on voltage. Pls see the cell balancing section of the technical reference manual in the link below

2、Over voltage protection, over current protection, under-voltage protection configuration parameters are stored in the data such as Flash or RAM?

OA: All these are stored in Flash and copied to RAM during initialization of the gauge

3、Battery pack factory configured to SLEEP mode, the leakage current is 90 ~ 160 uA, are there any ways to reduce the leakage current?

OA: This is not leakage current but rather the gauge current consumption. You can configure the charge and dishcarge  fets to be turned off in sleep mode essentially disabling the charge pumps and reducing the current consumption to 38uA.

4、Swicth the NORMAL mode and SLEEP mode  is controlled by host? If it is, in the process of charging remove the battery, the chip is  always working in NORMAL mode, and the battery leakage current   250 ~ 500 uA?

OA: the host can send the command to put the gauge in sleep mode, or if the sleep conditions listed in the TRM are met, the gauge will automatically on its own go into sleep mode. The gauge wakes up intermitently to take voltage, current and temperature measurements.

    thanks
