Hello, I want to select a power conversion IC but so far the TI selection tool has been not at all helpful, but before I get to the main point, please excuse me for including another question.
What I want is a chip that works as the centerpiece of an isolated flyback conversion circuit, detailed input & output parameters are as follows:
Input: 100VAC ~ 305VAC, 50HZ & 60HZ (yes, must work with both)
output:36VDC (preferable) or 24VDC (acceptable)
output current: 3A if 36VDC, 4A if 24VDC
Price: as low as possible.
Now, for the "extra question":
As you can see, the input range of 100VAC ~ 305VAC is somewhat peculiar. If there is such a chip for it then it's fantastic, if there isn't, I'd like to shrink it.
As of now I'm thinking using a transformer, to drive down the voltage to (let's say the transformer has a ratio of E2/E1 = 0.8), so after the transformer the input range should be reduced to 80~244VAC. My question: is this the best and relatively simple way to do it? Is it a way to do it at all?
Thank your for your time and any advice offered!
