BQ25890H: Difference between BQ25890H and BQ25890

Both BQ25890H and BQ25890 charger ICs are available. But what are the differences between both of them? I have realized the difference in the function of DSEL pin of both the ICs, but are there any other differences? Is there any evaluation board for BQ25890H, like BQ25890EVM_664 for BQ25890 or can I use the same evaluation board BQ25890EVM_664 for BQ25890H as well? Please help in this matter.

Hello Bhargav,

The main difference of the bq25890H from the 890, is that in addition of providing D+/D- detection, it includes a programmable D+/D- driver that allows the user to emulate handshaking protocols with different high voltage adjustable adapters (HVDCP) in the market. We also have an app note that discusses this in more detail.

You can order a BQ25890EVM_664 and swap the IC with a bq25890H for evaluation purposes.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for support. Definitely it clarified a lot of my doubts. However, I have only Battery Management Studio v1.3.54 as a software for evaluation which doesn't contain the BQ25890H device. Where should I find the appropriate software ? Or, is the current version enough for BQ25890H?

Thanks a lot. That really worked, but only when I renamed the attached file by removing '7651.'
