Hi,
during testing of our power supply board (designed to feed an embedded computer board), I noticed a very strange behaviour.
The board creates a 5V rail from an unregulated 24VDC voltage, and we used a LMR14050SDDA regulator. The configuration is very similar to the recommended schematic, except for the values of the components.
During testing sessions, sometimes we noticed a failure of the computer board. The problem arose presumably at startup, and was quite infrequent and difficult to isolate. Finally I succeeded, and ths is the result:
Sometimes the regulator output lacks of regulation, and the voltage is considerably higher (8.72V) than expected. It seems to me as the chip internal logic doesn't initialize correctly. Cycling the input power causes the regulator to restart correctly. The problem is erratic, and happens on my board only after hundreds of on/off cycles.
Has somebody seen the same problem? Any suggestion?
Thank you,
Battista
