BQ24295: This fine device monitors temperature. Is that value accessible through I2C?

Part Number: BQ24295
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25895

As part of a comprehensive protection scheme, it would be nice to access the temperature inferred from the NTC connected to this charger Chip. Might that variable be available through I2C. I cannot seem to find it anywhere in the data sheet.

  • Hello Michael,

The bq24295 doesn't offer NTC/temperature measurements via I2C. The only temperature information available through I2C are the NTC faults (Hot,Cold, Normal) on REG09[1:0].

We do offer chargers that have integrated ADCs that offer the TS pin voltage as a percentage of the bias voltage (typically REGN) that the host can read via I2C and convert to temperature. Please review the bq25895 for more details.
