UCC28881EVM-680: Any issue with a smaller inductor current for L1?

Part Number: UCC28881EVM-680
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28881

Hi,

We are trying to build a solution with reference to UCC28881 Offline High side Buck regulator. For L2, we are having issue fitting a larger inductor like what spec in the reference design. Would you foresee any issue replacing it with a 0.35A inductor(small size) such as the LHLC08TB102J?

Thanks,

Christina

  • This part is a bit light on specifications. It's not mentioned whether the 0.35A is a saturation current, rms current, what temperature it's at etc.
I believe that if it 0.35A is the saturation current you should be able to use it. You could check this by testing it with a square wave across it and observing what current level the part starts to saturate at. It needs to be above the 315mA Ipk min in the datasheet.

    Thanks
    Billy
