TPS659037: TPS659037 / Warm reset sequence

Part Number: TPS659037

Hi,

Please let me ask about warm reset sequence of TPS659037. The description for warm reset in "TPS659037 User's Guide to Power AM572x and AM571x" includes the information of "If any resource is on when NRESWARM is asserted, the resource remains on" but it can't find in section 5.4.8 Warm Reset in datasheet. Is this information can be applied as actual operation?

Best Regards,

Satoshi / Japan Disty

  • Hi Satoshi-san,

Yes, this is a correct description.

The Warm Reset section of the datasheet is saying that a warm reset executes the OFF2ACT sequence, even if the device is already in ACTIVE state. So when a warm reset happens, there are 2 cases for any resource in the OFF2ACT sequence:

    1. If the resource is off when NRESWARM=0, then it will turn on based on its timing in the OFF2ACT sequence.
    2. If the resource is on when NRESWARM=0, then there will be no change, since the OFF2ACT sequence will only turn it on.

And any resource not in the OFF2ACT sequence will not change during warm reset. So any resource that is on when a warm reset happens will not be switched off, and therefore remains on.

    Regards,
    Karl
