BQ24073: I can not charge my battery at 100 mA

Part Number: BQ24073
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

Hello

I want charge my battery at 100mA but the charging current does not exceed 60mA.

In the datasheet there is an inconsistency on the max value of RISET . 8.9K(p7) and 5.9K(p21).

can you help me ?

my configuration

IN = 5V

RILIM = 4.7K

RISET = 8.87K

TD = VSS

TMR = VSS

RTS = 10K

EN1 = 0

EN2 = 1

Thanks

  • I performed additional tests

    In reality the problem is that the current decreases around 3.9V instead of 4.2V.
    But at low voltage the current is well 100mA.

    Can you confirm me the max value of Riset.

    Thanks
  • Dear e2e Community,

    Here are additional details to help us on the diagnostic:
    - the bq succeed to perform the whole charge cycle, but with an extra time (~2h), due to this "wrong" charge current (60mA)
    - the battery is a 600mAh
    - the input voltage is a 5V from a lab power source
    - the output (Vout) is just loaded by a 3mA system (CC2650)

    Could you help us to find why the charge current is limited at 60mA (when Vbatt > 3.9V) instead of 100mA?

    Regards,
  • Hello

    I realized a complete charge.

    attached my mesures:

    Time Voltage Current
    00:00 3,35V 95mA
    00:08 3,51V 96mA
    00:10 3,53V 96mA
    00:25 3,69V 96mA
    00:35 3,73V 96mA
    00:45 3,75V 96mA
    00:57 3,78V 96mA
    01:25 3,82V 96mA
    01:45 3,83V 96mA
    01:45 3,84V 96mA
    02:50 3,88V 96mA
    03:45 3,94V 96mA
    03:55 2,95V 91mA
    04:18 2,98V 82mA
    04:41 4,00V 72mA
    06:17 4,1V 34mA
    06:52 4,12V 28mA
    07:09 4,12V 26mA
    07:25 4,12V 25mA
    07:39 4,13V 23mA
    08:07 4,14V 18mA
    08:29 4,15V 16mA
    08:52 4,16V 13mA
    09:25 4,16V 10mA
    09:40 4,16V 0mA

    You can see that the current decreases from 2.95V.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

    the resistance between VBAT pin and battery will cause this issue, because the voltage drop. can you test the VBAT pin voltage, near to our IC
