The above ic bq3055 is marked as NRND . But DATA SHEET is as recent as 2015. we are using this IC in our new product. If so should we switchover to bq40z50 which also looks same to this ?

The bq4050 is the CEDV replacement for the bq3055. You can still use the bq3055, but the bq4050 built on our latest hardware platform and the firmware offers some new features.

1) If bq4050 is the replacement to bq3055 , then how ic bq4050 is different from

bq40z50-R1 , since both look identical with capacity to handle 1 to 4 cells and having the same maximum voltage of 30v?

2) Incidentally bq4050 does not appear in the TI Battery management Guide of 2015 ,where as bq40z50r1 appears in the guide . what is the reason ?

The bq4050 uses the CEDV gauging algorithm like the bq3055. The bq40z50-R1 uses an Impedance Track algorithm. The bq4050 was released in 2016, so it would not have appeared in the 2015 product guide.
