EN pin of TPS63070

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63070

I have a question about TPS63070.

In datasheet, the register(R5) of  EN pin is 10kΩ.

Is there any problem with setting the register(R5) of EN pin to 0 Ω?

  • When there are high and steep voltage peaks on the VIN. This could trigger the ESD on the EN pin. This is why we recommend the 10k.

  • Thank you for your answer.

The following is written on page 11.

the resistor can be shared. No resistor is required if
the pin is driven from an analog or digital signal rather than a supply voltage.

Why do not we need resistors when the pin is driven from an analog or digital signal?

    Best regards
  • if the VIN pin is driven by a source where high and steep voltage peek can occur the resistor is recommended, This is the case when VIN is line powered (any low impedance source like power supply, battery...etc),

Otherwise, when the VIN pin is driven by high impedance signal , usually the digital signal has a resistor limiting the current capabilities or analog signal coming from a op amp for example, the resistor is not required.
